I am inspired too! I am going sihppong this weekend and plan on loading up on lots of colorful dresses and skirts - not only are they cooler (literally - more breeze!!) ;) - but they're a feminine alternative to wearing shorts and capris ALL SUMMER. (And in Texas, all summer means from March until October) :)

This law is completely unaonsearble. Even if it, as the gentleman interviewed put it,  a statement,  to outlaw such a statement should not be with in the interest of a government. It is absurd to me that a federal government would spend time legitimately consider enacting a law fining people for covering their faces. They could at least pretend to cover this under the veil of  security  or some arguably more understandable issue. They do not. They straight up say that it's due to the  message of fundamentalism.  That, to me, raises this issue from a bizarre misguided fashion policy to actual religious persecution. It is not relevant at all to include the Islamic man who disagrees that it is a necessary practice of the Muslim religion. I do not pretend to be anything close to an expert on Islambut every religion has different sects and denominations with different rules. If the United States did something along banning minors from drinking wine in church, I would expect certain Christian groups to react more strongly than others. Catholics, who believe in the transformation of the body and blood would likely be insulted where less biblically literal Methodists may be less effected. Similarly, different Islamic groups are likely to have differing views throughout France. These women bluntly put that they would disregard any laws outlawing their garments, so obviously it is important to them.Enacting these laws is still unjustifiable when approaching the issue from a feminist perspective that the video addressed. The women interviewed stated that they were happy to be dressed as they are, in some cases despite their husband's objections.  This is evidently an accepted piece of culture, not an oppressive shadow of misogyny cast over poor defenseless women. They are not victims. They are not brainwashed sheep being hypnotized into a subservient mindset, awaiting rescue from a brave, noble politician swooping down from a self-perceived moral high ground to free them from the shackles of having cloth over their face. The consequence of this political action that these women will feel is not justice, nor is it liberation. It is criminalization. The thousands that decide to adopt this dress will now be criminals in their homeland because of their cultural fashion decisions. This could create a dissonance between culture and country for these people. How is a person supposed to be happy with authority when their basic cultural values are outlawed by their home government? This does not unite the French people, it divides them. This does not ease tensions between cultural sects, it ignites them. This proposal by the French government is invasive, insensitive, unwarranted and unwelcome. It sounds like a certain something they disagreed with our country about a couple years ago.
